How Goodbye Australia Since our last story we have done and seen so much. We left Palm Cove on Monday 18th Feb and arrived in Perth for our last adventure. We picked up our campervan (the shower was only suitable for a size 6!) from Britz and set off into the unknown! We had intended to travel down the west coast across to Esperance and back to Perth via Kalgoorlie. We didn't make that because we fell in love with Bunbury. We think this place has stood still in time for the last 20 years. The beaches are so wonderful with dolphins swimming around and parrots flying aroung like sparrows! We did, however, drive a little further for a few nights. The highlight of this week has to be our stop just north from Augusta at Hamelin Bay. We arrived there one morning to find 5' stingrays in abundance. We were able to hand feed them thanks to a local fisherman who provided us with fish heads! It was just awesome. On our travels, which actually did extend as far as Walpole and the Valley of the Giants (which is another story), we saw an abundance of emus and kangaroos. Unfortunately, there are an awful lot of dead kangaroos at the side of the road - what carnage, so sad. In our quest for UGG Boots for Heather we came across the Swan Bells this morning in Perth, which we had passed many times before! We spend a while listening to them - very peaceful! (We did get the UGG boots Heather, don't worry!). |
